Chapter 1 - A generous & fulfilling day
Food is central to every Sunday wedding at The Glasshouse. Couples who choose this day consistently prioritise quality, generosity, and familiarity done exceptionally well.
Sunday weddings in Kent are quietly becoming one of the most sought-after choices for couples who value atmosphere, connection, and exceptional food over excess and formality. At The Glasshouse, we have long believed that Sundays offer the most natural setting for a wedding day and our experience confirms it time and time again.
Couples who choose a Sunday wedding are looking for a meaningful experience for their friends and family. Their priorities are clear: a beautiful ceremony, followed by candid and memorable photography, wholesome food, easy conversation, and a day that feels generous and fulfilling.
The result is a wedding that flows effortlessly and one that guests remember as the best Sunday of the season.
Chapter 2 - Being together
Why choose a Sunday wedding in Kent?
Kent is perfectly suited to Sunday weddings. Its countryside pace, historic venues, and seasonal produce align beautifully with the slower rhythm of a Sunday celebration. Unlike traditional Saturday weddings, Sunday weddings feel instinctively familiar to guests and this comfort translates into remarkably high attendance rates. In our experience, Sunday weddings often receive close to 100% guest confirmations.
Guests arrive relaxed, unhurried, and ready to enjoy the day. As guests might have to work the next day, There are no expectations of a late-night party and no sense of over-planning, everyone knows what Sundays are for: relaxing, enjoying family and friends, and simply being together.
The focus stays firmly on togetherness.
Chapter 3 - The schedule of the day
A wedding schedule that feels effortless
One of the great strengths of a Sunday wedding at The Glasshouse is its natural, well-balanced schedule.
The day usually begins around 12 noon, with the couple arriving to get ready in the pamper room. This is a calm, light-filled space designed for a relaxed start to the day: hair and makeup, quiet moments, photographs, and time spent with close family or friends just a few steps away from the barn-style ceremony room, The Buttery.
The wedding ceremony typically takes place at around 3pm, allowing beautiful afternoon light for photographs throughout the year - whether it is soft winter light filtering through glass or long summer shadows in the gardens.
Around 4-5pm, guests are seated for the heart of a Sunday wedding experience: the wedding breakfast.
Chapter 4 - The Sunday Roast
The traditional Sunday roast - elevated
Food is central to every Sunday wedding at The Glasshouse. Couples who choose this day consistently prioritise quality, generosity, and familiarity done exceptionally well.
The centrepiece is a traditional Sunday roast wedding breakfast, prepared with care and confidence. Beautifully cooked meats, crisp roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, rich gravies, and thoughtful accompaniments come together to create a meal that is both comforting and impressive. Speeches are delivered while toast drinks are poured.
This is wholesome food in the best sense - satisfying, generous, and memorable. Guests of all ages respond to it instinctively, and the feedback is remarkably consistent: the best roast they’ve had at a wedding, and often the best roast in Kent.
A Sunday wedding allows couples to truly feed their guests well, without pretence, and without compromise.
Chapter 5 - The joy of being together
After lunch, the pace softens naturally
This is where Sunday weddings at The Glasshouse truly come into their own. There is space for dolce far niente - the pleasure of doing very little, very well.
In the summer months, guests drift between The Glasshouse, the bar, and the terrace. On warmer days, the historic bowling green often becomes an unexpected highlight, bringing guests together in a friendly bowling match in the most natural way.
The lounge bar with sink in sofas by the fire offers the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing round of drinks while conversations stretch and deepen.
There is no need for elaborate entertainment schedules. Sundays already carry their own rhythm, one that invites people to linger, connect, and enjoy themselves without instruction.
Chapter 6 - The honeymoon suite
An early finish that guests appreciate
Most Sunday weddings at The Glasshouse conclude between around 9-10pm, a timing that guests consistently welcome.
For couples, this creates a day that feels grounded and present. The emphasis remains on what matters most: the ceremony, the photographs, the food, and the people.
The spacious honeymoon suite will be prepared for the newlyweds, with crisp, inviting linens for a deeply restorative night’s sleep, followed by a full English breakfast the next morning. Guests may also choose to stay in one of our boutique bedrooms, lingering over final goodbyes the following day.
Chapter 7 - Quiet luxury
A more affordable wedding without compromise
Without the need for a late-night disco or extended evening reception, Sunday weddings are naturally more affordable than traditional Saturday celebrations. Yet they rarely feel smaller.
Instead, couples invest in what makes the greatest impact: exceptional food, thoughtful service, and a beautiful setting. The Glasshouse offers an elegant, light-filled backdrop that works effortlessly in every season, from intimate winter Sundays to long, golden summer afternoons.
Quite simply, a Sunday wedding offers extraordinary value without sacrificing experience.
